Following in the wake of Ernest Hemingway, not to mention US presidents, avid deep sea anglers have long celebrated the fishing off Key West and the Florida Keys. Close to the Gulfstream the Florida Straits provides ample opportunities for the big game fish Papa loved – sailfish and marlin – as well as dolphin, tuna, wahoo and other challenging targets.

The flats and backcountry keys are also a popular fishing ground – this rich area is fed by freshwater from the everglades mixed with the tidal flows from the Gulf of Mexixo, support a very unique eco-system, one that supports several species popular with sportfishing enthusiasts -- including tarpon, bonefish, permit, snook, trout and redfish. If you want to fish in comfort and style, then you can’t do better than a charter aboard a 46 foot Bertram. Key West has two: the Mr. Z and the Triple Time. Both are docked at the A & B Marina on Front Street.

Captain Paul has been fished the waters of Key West and the Marquesas since he was a kid, more than twenty 20 years. His family has fished the waters of Key West and the Marquesas for generations, back when all the boats were wooden (which they built themselves) and they knew where to go before high tech navigation. He enjoyed going out on fishing adventures with my father and uncles so much that he decided to make it my occupation.
